Pasta di Mare

Ingredients (for 2 people)
1 onion
1 clove garlic
500 ml tomato sauce
Black pepper & salt
2 cans sardines in their own juice (mackerel works too)
3 tbsp capers
Whole wheat spaghetti (or lentil pasta)
Optional: a handful of flat-leaf parsley
Method
Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
Roughly chop the onion and sauté it in a pot with a little oil. Meanwhile, finely chop the garlic and add it. Deglaze with the tomato sauce and let simmer for a few minutes.
Finely chop the parsley and set aside.
Add the capers to the sauce, stir, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the pot from the heat.
Drain the pasta, add the sauce, and mix everything well.
